Under the management of Alain Vauthier, the wines of Château Ausone have become one of the most cherished and sought after wines of Bordeaux. The wines of Château Ausone generally require cellaring for at least ten years to reach maturity and in their youth, these wines can be very tannic. As they age, the distinct flavours of currant, raspberry and black cherry begin to come forward, joined by hints of spice. Some of the library wines that are nearly a century old still possess charm and a touch of surprising youthfulness. The very best vineyards enjoy the status of Premiers Grands Crus Classs A and B and are re-evaluated every decade. Château Ausone produces on average 2,000 cases per year and is honoured as a "First Grand Cru Classé, A". |
